It is recommended that asphalt is given two years to cure before treating it with sealcoat.
A freshly sealed driveway can handle foot traffic as soon as it dries. This, however, does not mean that the sealcoat has cured. Therefore, it is recommended that you do not drive anything on the new sealcoat for a minimum of 48 hours (possibly more in high humidity). This is the amount of time that it takes for the sealer to harden enough to drive on. It will take a month to fully cure.
Because sealcoat takes approximately one month to cure fully, there is always a risk of tire scuffing early on. This is normal and will blend in as it weathers.
It is safe to sealcoat your driveway every 2-3 years. Adding sealcoat to a driveway too often can cause cracking, peeling, and/or flaking.
